SCAN worked with the UVA School of Architecture to put student work in vacant storefronts in 2016. We are currently working with the Town of Scottsville to get this project off the ground. HISTORY OF VICTORY HALL
Victory Theater, originally called Victory Hall, was designed by D. Wiley Anderson. Construction was completed in 1920. It was the dream of drama teacher Marion McKay to have a setting for dramatic performances and traveling vaudeville and Chautauqua shows. The theatre name commemorates the Armistice of World War 1, and the building served its original purpose until 1960 when it became the Municipal Building for the Town of Scottsville.
POLLINATOR FESTIVAL
The Scottsville Center for Arts and Nature serves as the non-profit facilitator for ‘Bee City USA’ and the Town. Our Hardware Street property is working to include an apiary, or collection of bee hives, that will serve as an outdoor classroom.
